New Digital Content: Comics Plus
You can now access digital comics, graphic novels, and manga anytime, anywhere with your Bettendorf Public Library Card. Comics Plus, powered by LibraryPass, offers thousands of titles with no wait time. You have unlimited, simultaneous access to titles for all ages. Find reads like Big Nate, Saga, Star Wars, Fullmetal Alchemist, Avatar the Last Airbender, and much more.

LIBRARY NEWS:
Summer Reading Program
We have two and half weeks left in the Summer Reading Program! Be sure to visit the library once you've Leveled Up and completed your challenge to collect your prize.
  • Adults recieve a voucher to the Friends of the Library bookshop and can enter a raffle drawing for various $50 gift cards.
  • Teens get a book and raffle entries for legendary loot, including a Nintendo Switch and a Barnes and Noble library shopping spree.
  • In addtion to the wooden quarter for the Friends of the Library Bookshop given at sign-up and the Rubik’s Cube halfway prize, children receive a book and a raffle ticket for prizes such as LEGO sets, a Nintendo Switch Lite, and a telescope upon completion of their challenge.
Learning Campus Discovery Fair
Save the date for the Learning Campus Discovery Fair! On Saturday, August 16, enjoy free, engaging, drop-in activities for all ages throughout the entire Learning Campus. Discover authentic dinosaur fossils and realistic models with T-Rexplorers, participate in thrilling STEM programs hosted by the Putnam Museum, and enjoy balloon animals, face painting, and even a face painting class. There will also be two caricature artists on-site, as well as foam cannons, bubbles, and paper rockets at Faye’s Field.

Creation Studio Open House
Friday, July 18

Tour our Creation Studio makerspace and discover a world of creative opportunities!
 
The Library's Creation Studio offers you the opportunity to explore your creativity and ingenuity. It offers community access to new and emerging technologies, such as 3D printers and other equipment, which inspires interest in creativity, design, and STEAM activities. During the Open House, we'll demonstrate equipment, answer questions, showcase projects that have been made, and even have Creation Studio swag to give away!

English Language Learners Conversation Club
Thursday, July 17
4–5 p.m. 
English language learners and ESL students of all ages can chat with teen volunteers to practice English in a relaxed, real-world environment.
 
No registration is required.

Clue Escape Room
Wednesday, July 23
10 a.m. - 4 p.m. 
The Bettendorf Public Library's Teen Leadership Committee proudly presents a thrilling escape room—with a Clue twist!
 
Can you solve Professor Plum's murder and escape the room before the time is up? You have 30 minutes to find the clues, solve the mystery, and puzzle your way out!
 
Sign up your group of up to 10 people for a time slot on Wednesday, July 23. This escape room is best suited for individuals aged 10 and up.
 
Programming for the Teen Summer Reading Program is funded by the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library.

Stop in and join us for friendly games of chess! No experience is required; we are happy to teach you the rules to get you started. This club meets every other Saturday, and all skill levels are welcome.

Summer of Adventure Storytime with WQPT PBS
Tuesday, July 22
10-10:30 a.m.
WQPT PBS is making a guest appearance during this storytime and bringing along some of your favorite friends!
 
Watch clips from PBS KIDS shows, enjoy a story with movement and music, and create a special take-home craft. Plus, each child will receive a PBS KIDS Summer Activity booklet and access to awesome online resources for them and their parents, too. Don’t miss out on the fun!
 
Programming for the children's Summer Reading Program is presented by Ascentra Credit Union, Eye Surgeons Associates, Quad City Bank & Trust, Twin State Inc., and IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union through the Bettendorf Public Library Foundation.

Fan Club: Greek Myths
Tuesday, July 8
2:30-4 p.m.
Share your fandom love and make new friends!

Tweens and teens ages 10-14 are encouraged to share their love of all things Greek mythology this meeting. Think Percy Jackson, Hercules, and more. We'll celebrate with themed snacks, books, shows, games, or crafts.
 
This club will continue to meet throughout the fall so we can explore even more fandoms. New members are always welcome!

Audiobook Club

4-5 p.m.
A new book club is coming next month: Audiobook Club! Throughout the fall semester, we'll meet once a month to listen to an audiobook while completing a simple craft. Our first book pick is Slugfest by Gordan Korman, one of the 2025-2026 Iowa Teen Award books. This laid-back book club is perfect for kids ages 11-17 who want to meet new friends, relax, and read together. No book checkout or registration is necessary.

Summer Concert Series: 3 on the Tree
Thursday, July 17
6:30-8 p.m.
Up this week for the Bettendorf Public Library Summer Concert Series is 3 on the Tree!

Led by Pat Jones, 3 on the Tree is a trio of cats that are heavily influenced by Johnny Cash, Elvis, Eddie Cochran, the Ramones, and Waylon Jennings. Their on-stage performances separate them from the rest and keep you wanting more. Come on out and rock with us—you'll dance up out of your seat!

Famous Dave's Food Truck and Sweet Shardae shaved ice truck will be on site. You are also welcome to bring your own food and drink to the show. In the case of inclement weather, the concert will be held inside the library.
 
The Summer Concert Series is funded by the Bettendorf Public Library Foundation and supported by TBK Bank, Duck Creek Tire & Service, Bettendorf Rotary Club, and Harrington's Pub.

Memory Circle
Tuesday, July 29
10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
Memory Circle offers a relaxing and comfortable environment for adults living with dementia and their caregivers to enjoy stimulating activities, socialization, and reminiscence.
 
Activities and topics vary month to month, so there are always new things to discuss and new memories to share.
 
This program is offered in collaboration with the Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and is sponsored by the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library.

Join us for a Get Lit discussion of Abundance by Jakob Guanzon next month! A limited supply of books are now available for pickup at the library.
 
This book discussion group is for adventurous souls who like to read a little something different. New members are always welcome.
 
Get Lit meets outside the library at Adventurous Brewing in Bettendorf. Please note Adventurous Brewing is a 21 and older location.
