Homeschool Presentation: Goitse
Tuesday, February 18
11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Engage with popular and multi-award-winning Irish quintet Goitse during a relaxed performance and artist talk.
 
Formed at Limerick’s Irish World Academy, Goitse is a leading traditional Irish ensemble recognized as Live Ireland’s “Traditional Group of the Year” and Chicago Irish American News’ “Group of the Year.” Their unique sound blends original compositions with traditional tunes. The band members are esteemed educators in Irish folk music and regularly give workshops on the music, the related instruments, history, and culture.

ESL students of any age can chat with teen volunteers to practice English in a relaxed, real-world environment.
 
This group now meets twice a month, providing you with even more opportunites to sharpen your skills!

Stop in and join us for friendly games of chess! No experience is required; we are happy to teach you the rules to get you started. All skill levels welcome!

Every Saturday
10 - 10:45 a.m.
Enjoy a 15-minute storytime complete with rhymes and songs followed by 30 minutes of imaginative playtime. 
 
Kids can play dress up, put on a puppet show, make a craft, and much more. This program is best-suited for ages 2 to 6 years old, but all ages are welcome to attend.

Fourth Wall Films

Immerse yourself in the world of documentaries with Fourth Wall Films and connect with Emmy award-winning filmmakers Kelly and Tammy Rundle.
 
Witness the intriguing connection between local waste and water quality in "Moved by Waters," a film that sheds light on joint initiatives to better the Upper Mississippi watershed. Then, take a journey with the short documentary "Over and Under: Wildlife Crossings" and participate in a lively discussion with the Rundles.
 
Community Connection events are funded by the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library.

Crafts for Adults: Cricut and Silhouette edition
Saturday, February 22
2 - 3:30 p.m.
Discover possibilities for using the Library's Cricut and Silhouette cutters with four different crafts.
 
We'll make a luminary, a butterfly pop-up card, a gift box with a bow, and we'll press a design on a canvas pouch.
Crafts for Adults requires registration and is sponsored by the Bettendorf Library Foundation.

New Intergenerational Book Club
We're launching a new book club: Untold Narratives! This is a new kind of book club where teen and adult readers will get together and discuss some of the greatest books they may have missed out on in school.
Each book will be carefully selected to get you thinking, feeling, and talking. We’ll read classics, contemporary, and even nonfiction titles. 
 
The first meeting will be March 1, and our choosen book is The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Copies of the book are available at the library, so come get yours!
 
This book club is sponsored by the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library.
