Homeschool Presentation: Sunny Jain
Tuesday, December 3
11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
The career of Sunny Jain is a celebration of cultural diaspora: deep-rooted tradition that ripples outward, changing – and being changed by – the cultures that it touches. He is a composer, drummer, and dhol player who has played alongside drumming legends Mickey Hart, Zakir Hussain, and Giovanni Hidalgo. He was called the "Hendrix of dhol" by Manchester Salon.
 
Registration is required. This event was funded by the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library.

English as a Second
Language Club
Thursday, December 5
6 - 7 p.m.
ESL students of any age can chat with teen volunteers to practice English in a relaxed, real-world environment.
 
And we have good news! Starting in January 2025, this club will meet twice a month so you can get even more practice in.
Cookie Decorating Contest
Saturday, December 7
12 - 2 p.m.
We only have a few spots left for our all-ages Cookie Decorating Competition! If registration fills, you can join the waitlist.

Reading Assistance Dogs
Thursday, December 5
6 - 7 p.m.
Children have the opportunity to read aloud to dogs from Quad Cities Canine.
 
This is great practice for kids and helps them build their vocabulary and self-confidence.

Child's Play
Saturday, December 7
10 - 10:45 a.m.
Child's Play is a 15-minute storytime complete with rhymes and songs followed by 30 minutes of imaginative playtime. 
 
Kids can play dress up, put on a puppet show, make a craft, and much more. This program is best-suited for ages 2 to 6 years old, but all ages are welcome to attend.

Intro to Laser Engraving
and Cutting

Learn the basics of using the Library's laser for engraving and cutting!

With the holidays just around the corner, there's no better time to learn. The laser is a great tool for creating unique holiday gifts, as it allows you to personalize items with intricate designs and special messages.

During the program, library staff will demonstrate how to prepare artwork for engraving and cutting. You'll also learn how to operate the laser and the safety measures required.

Upcoming holiday hours
The Library will be closing early at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, and will be closed Thursday, November 28. Regular hours will resume Friday, November 29.

We are taking a breif break from children's programming over the holidays. With the exception of the Reading Assistance Dogs on Thursday, January 2, there will be no children's programming between December 22 and January 5.
