SPOTLIGHT ON:
Preschool Fair
Saturday, February 7
12-4 p.m.
If you have a child starting preschool next year, come to the first Bettendorf Public Library Preschool Fair next Saturday! Meet with representatives from Quad Cities preschools to discuss their programs and find the best fit for your child.
 
This free, drop-in event is open to all parents and caregivers of prospective preschool students. We'll have preschool crafts and activities available as well.

LIBRARY NEWS:
Library Closed February 25
The Bettendorf Public Library will be closed Wednesday, February 25, for staff in-service. Regular hours will resume Thursday, February 26.

Winter Reading Program Has Concluded
If you haven't already, get your completed reading logs turned in by February 7 to collect your finishing prize!

Seed Exchange Coming Soon
The Seed Exchange opens March 2! Take up to three seed packets per month—no checkout required. All seeds included in the seed exchange are open-pollinated and non-GMO. Vegetable, herb, and flower seeds will be available.
 
Thank you to the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library for funding a huge restock ahead of the spring opening!

2026 Membership Forms Now Available
The Friends of the Library is a group of passionate library volunteers who support the library, sort donated materials, and run the bookshop in the library's lobby. By becoming a Friend of the Bettendorf Public Library, you directly support the wonderful events and services that make our library a cherished community resource (no volunteer time is required).
Friends Membership Benefits:
  • Supporting the Bettendorf Public Library
  • Early access to the Friends' annual fall book sale
  • First look at each month's new bookshop stock with members-only shopping hours
Individual memberships are available for as little as $5. Anyone can join by filling out the membership form and returning it to the library's Information Desk—or join at the door during the next members-only shopping hours on Friday, February 27, 1-3 p.m.

First Chapter Book Club
Thursday, February 12
4-5 p.m.
New audiobook club for ages 10-18! Listen to the first chapter of a new book each month, alternating between young adult and middle grade titles. In February, we'll listen to The Bletchley Riddle by Ruta Sepetys.

Historic Voices: Mrs. Lincoln in Love
Thursday, February 12
6:30-7:30 p.m. 
Mary Todd Lincoln lived a life filled with triumphs and tragedies, but few know her story. Listen in as she reflects on the loves of her life–her children, her husband, and her country.
 
Laura Keyes of Historic Voices will portray Mrs. Lincoln in this entertaining and educational program funded by the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library.

Monday, February 16
1-3 p.m. 
Kids can celebrate the Winter Olympics with games and activities inspired by winter sports! Play tabletop hockey, have a cross county ski race, or make a miniature bobsled.

Teen Environmental Summit
Saturday, February 28
11 a.m.–1 p.m. 
Join Quad Cities area libraries for a teen-centered morning of environmentalism and conservation. Learn how YOU can be part of the change with local nonprofit, government, and conservation organizations. Stop by for information on volunteering, jobs, and other ways you can get involved.
 
You can also bring your own tote or shirt to upcycle using Creation Studio tools, enter a raffle, and more!

Unlock your potential and step into a free class that's all about powering your small business with modern tools. Advisors from SCORE, the Small Business Development Center Iowa, and the U.S. Small Business Administration are ready to help fuel your ideas. Light refreshments will be available.
